District Dogs In The Window At Bird On A Wire
Main Street shop invites a new creative entrepreneurial business to demo their process and product at this weekly event
As part of a super rad ongoing series highlighting the creators of the work sold at their shop, the owners of Bird On A Wire (2535 Main St) host “Artist In The Window” every Saturday from 11am to 4pm.
It pays to get out and talk to shop owners!
While on assignment for Vancouver Magazine, I was photographing the interior of Shop Cocoon, a clothing and jewelry store at Cambie & 17th.
The owner’s sister, Paula, and I got in a great conversation about supporting local businesses, artists, and entrepreneurs, and after I told her about the ongoing work that VANDOCUMENT does, she mentioned the Saturday Series at Bird On A Wire.
Turns out that every Saturday, one of the creators of work sold at Bird On A Wire will set up shop in the storefront window, and will spend the day creating their work live. An entertaining, get-to-know-your-local-creative-entrepreneurs, regular weekend event! Applause for Bird On A Wire for instigating such a simple concept.
Local shops, follow Bird On A Wire’s lead – this is a fantastic project!
To Jarin and Catherine of District Dogs, the letterpress & linocut company in store that Saturday May 18 2013, fantastic to meet you both! Thank you kindly for the “Vancouver BC” freshly printed banner, best of luck to you! Keep in touch with us for your upcoming stories of success.
