Premiering October 23rd and running to the 26th, Margie GillisBulletins from Immortality… freeing Emily Dickinson marks a combination of two historic anniversaries: “Performed in The Cultch’s Historic Theatre, Bulletins from Immortality… freeing Emily Dickinson not only celebrates Gillis’ acclaimed 40-year career, but also marks the first dance presentation of this renowned East Vancouver cultural centre’s 40th season.”

VANDOCUMENT’s mandate is to document and promote Vancouver’s local and emerging artistic talent.

While Margie Gillis is not from Vancouver, she is Canadian. And while she is far beyond emerging, we also respect that much can be learned from artists who have not only been creating for decades, but have also managed to create a successful career for themselves from their craft.

We also love The Cultch, and are happy to support and promote this irreplaceable East Vancouver venue whenever possible.

“Celebrating its 40th anniversary this season, The Cultch has been one of Vancouver’s most diverse and innovative arts and cultural institutions, offering dynamic programming in contemporary theatre, dance, and music by local, national, and international artists. Today, The Cultch continues to enrich the social and cultural life of Vancouver by bringing world-class cultural presentations to the public, supporting the growth of emerging artists and companies, and facilitating dialogue between groups in the Lower Mainland, especially within our local community of East Vancouver.” (from Bulletins from Immortality press release)

VANDOCUMENT’s own dancer, choreographer, and writer, Hailey McCloskey, highly recommended that we cover Bulletins and feature Gillis, as (in Hailey’s words) “she is a total LEGEND.”

Laura Murray PR is setting Hailey up with a media pass to cover the opening night of Bulletins. We look forward to her review and congratulate Margie Gillis and The Cultch on their impressive anniversaries.
