First Thursday Vancouver + Art Waste 2013

Two massive art events collide and explode the already busiest night of the week for Vancouver's visual arts exhibitions

The First Thursday Vancouver Art Walk and Art Waste collided in early June.

The fourth day of the work week is traditionally THE night of the week to check out new art in the city – this is when most galleries launch their opening receptions.

Chris Bentzen of Hot Art Wet City knows this; he wants to encourage more people to take in all that Vancouver’s art scenes have to offer, especially now that neighbourhoods such as Mount Pleasant are brimming with galleries. So he created First Thursday Vancouver.

Music Waste, that awesome music festival of killer local talent, has grown over the years to include comedy and, yes, art programming too.

Just so happens that Music Waste kicked off their 2013 edition on Thursday June 6th, the first Thursday of the month.

What ensued was art opening bliss. Or madness. Or perhaps, as the best things in life usually are, a little bit of both.

Have a great day!. I feel like I’m always looking for interesting things to read about a variety of niches, but I manage to include your blog among my reads every day because you have honest entries that I look forward to. Here’s hoping there’s a lot more great material coming!
